SPW
Productions, LLC was born out of one woman's passion
for fashion and special events. Having received a Communications
degree from Glassboro State College in New Jersey, Sharon Phillips
Waxman honed her skills at Gimbels in Philadelphia,
PA from 1980 through 1983. She held several executive positions,
including Fashion Coordinator and Thanksgiving Day Parade Costume
& Make-up Coordinator.
From
1983-1988, Waxman realized her entrepreneurial ambitions as Owner/Director
of Phillips Models, a full-service modeling agency in Philadelphia,
Pa. During that same time period, Waxman owned and operated the
private trade school, Allure Finishing and Modeling School, in Philadelphia,
at which students were instructed in Finishing, Self-Development
and Modeling.
Waxman
then became Special Events Consultant for Synergistic Concepts,
Inc. in New York. From 1990 through 1995, she was responsible for
the creative and operational execution of major events, including
the Philadelphia Freedom Festival, Baltimore Columbus Day Celebration,
Maryland Preakness Parade, Philadelphia Welcome Home Parade, Baltimore
Families of Faith Parade celebrating the visit of Pope John Paul
II, and a "Snapple Parade" staged for a television commercial
under the direction of Spike Lee.
Notably,
Waxman was also Parade Operations Coordinator for the Channel 6
Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia from 1986 through 1991.
She directed and executed all parade operations for an event seen
by a million TV viewers and 500,000 in live audience.
In
1994, Phashion
Phest was born and is now considered SPW
Productions signature event. The Delaware Valley's
premier fashion event includes a lavish cocktail reception, fashion
and beauty-related activities and a choreographed, high-energy fashion
show with over 2,000 guests in attendance annually.
Out of the initial success of Phashion
Phest, SPW Productions
was born. Sixteen years later, SPW Productions has grown into one of the most highly respected event production companies in the region, with an ever expanding list of clients.
SPW
Productions was the recipient of the 2009 International Special Events Society (ISES) Esprit Award for Best Social Event for our signature event, Phashion
Phest. In addition, SPW
Productions was awarded the Greater Philadelphia ISES Liberty Award for Best Special Event Planner for the annual event Taste of Philadelphia.
